I was looking at this Macbook White. Do you guys think it's powerful enought to handle pto tools? I usually run about 24-30 audio tracks with various plug ins on them. The link is below.
http://www.apple.com/macbook/white/features.html Or I was lookin g at the Imac, but I want to conserve space. The new Macbook's do not have firewire 400 ports. Any other recommendations. I'm a PC user switching to Mac. i'm using a M-Audio Profire 2696 with M-Powered which is amazing. Sounds better than any Digi003 I've heard. Or should I look at a used G5 on Ebay. Thanks!!!! |

Re: Recommendations
I just bought an old imac G5 1.8ghz 2 gig Ram and it handles protools thus far. That said, I haven't done 24 tracks on it. I'm sure the macbook would be fine. A powerful G5 dual might be better for plug-ins but I'm not 100% on this. I was looking into a used G5 before I got the imac. SInce I only plan on using 12 -16 tracks, I figured I'd give the imac a shot and upgrade later. I'm finding there is a big learning curve going from PC to Mac but it's been fun so far.
