I tried to review Avid Cloud in the recent years. It was buggy as hell and I gave up. I guess Janne is a very lucky guy having zero issues with it.

Best

Cloud is just somebody else's computer. You need a good connection if something is not in-house.

But it feels like this somebody’s computer is buggy as hell. I started a project four years ago. It was just a test. Originally it was about 100 MByte large. I opened and closed it several times, did some edits but didn’t record or add any files. But it was growing to over 600 MByte.

I have fiber to the home and it did absolutely nothing to mitigate the rolling cluster f*** that is Cloud Collaboration.

Cloud collaboration is having serious issues right now. The problem is wide spread, and Avid support will tell you as much (if you're lucky enough to actually talk to them) but they have not addressed it publicly which is disappointing.

There are plenty of posts recently about people having trouble with collaboration, Avid Link, and avid cloud in general here and on the Avid link user forum.

I don't believe for a second JFreak is currently using avid cloud collaboration with someone else with "zero issues". I'd be happy to be proven wrong!

After having used the Avid Cloud with a remote collaborator for about a year, we decided to add a third person to several projects. The original partner and I were on paid versions of Pro Tools, but the new person was going to use PT First. I never got the Avid Cloud to work reliably with Pro Tools First. I normally use a Mac in my studio, but I also signed up for a PT First account at that time and installed it on my Windows 10 Pro laptop. I couldn’t get the cloud service to work consistently on the remote Collab computer, nor my own. Once I had the demo paid version of Pro Tools on the Windows laptop then it started working! I never investigated past this point since the 3rd remote collaborator decided not to pay for Pro Tools. I don’t blame him after that fiasco.

If there's a finite amount of bandwidth available for PT users and Avid must prioritize those data channels then I'd expect paying customers to receive that priority.

I tried collaborating today. Good lord, it wont even show me the sessions I have in the cloud. I can create new sessions but when trying to invite someone it sticks cold on that 'checking for sessions' dialogue box. There's seemingly no cloud activity at all.
