Default Problems with the Mbox

I am having major problems with my Mbox. My system is an Emachine with XP, 40 Gb hard drive, 608 Mb of Ram, Athlon processor, and a soundblaster live 5.1 soundcard. Ok now my problem, first I was hearing this wierd buzzing/humming noise coming from the Mbox through my headphones, even when I was not playing anything back, and when I did play something back the buzzing got even louder. Sometimes the Mbox would turn itself off whenever I would hit Ctrl + = on my keyboard. So I thought the Mbox wasnt getting enough power, and I got a powered USB hub to plug it into and now the buzzing only occurs during the playback, but when I start up Protools and open/start a session the Mbox still turns itself off. I tried it on my dads Medion computer and it worked perfectly without the powered USB hub. Hopefully someone here can help me out.

Thanks

the only thing can tell you for sure is that the mbox needs it's own dedicated usb port the manuals say not to run it through a port. but the other stuff i'm clueless about sorry.

I think on that Emachine, you only have USB 2.
The M-Box doesn't like that and is not really compatible with it.
Make sure you have the latest drivers though just to be sure.

I am completely surprised that Digidesign doesn't fix obvious problems like this one and the screen size hassle. Oh and the very limited import feature. It's interesting that in programs like Cool Edit Pro and SoundForge you can import any sound file, literally. And you constantly have to fight Pro Tools if you want to import from a CD, MP3, QT, or WMA etc. $$$

Thanks.

GtrDude.

i had the same problem. its a noise that you can hear but it dont show up in the recordings...i went to best buy and got a self power usb hub...that should work...it cost about 19 dollars and its called d-link its a 4 port usb hub. i know digi said usb hubs dont work with the mbox but boo hoo...i think the mbox and some people computers just have power issues and like mines yours is having the same problem...i would go give it a try cause it work for me.
