Lazy? Moooaaahahaha, no, this is more of a workflow kinda thing.

• all tracks in latch
• preview enabled
• loop a section
• adjust the mix

Of course, I can punch the preview buffer to the selection at this point, but sometimes I want to

• suspend preview (not to temporarily mess with the mix on the previous section in the song)
• hit back and play
• punch preview buffer during play
• auto match out

Yeah, that's a tough one.

I guess the only way to make that happen now is to Capture the Preview, exit out of Preview, roll back and punch it on the fly. More steps than your way would be.

Actually, I can punch a suspended preview buffer. I don't know what on earth happened the last few times I tried it, but it has worked just fine all day.

Here's another cool short cut my mixer friend Scott Weber showed me:

1. Do all your magic in Preview...
2. Hit "Write to..." instead of hitting "Punch Preview and then Write to end or all, etc..

Saves a step...

The data in the preview buffer remains until you press preview again. So it is possible to hit punch preview do a pass (or suspend preview) -then any time later (so long as you have not gone back into preview -relocate to a different T/C then punch preview again and the same settings will be recalled and put into write.

There are many uses for this one I use often for music pre dubbing when a cue overlaps eg tracks 1-12 may have out going music and a new cue might start on tracks 13-24 and then more elements may be placed on tracks 1-12;

1-In preview set up mix across the new cue all 24 tracks.
2-Locate to before the new cue (in latch mode latch prime enabled etc) punch preview
3- before hitting play drop tracks 1-12 out of write (so I don't over-write the mix of the previous cue)
4- hit play (tracks 13-24 are now writing automation)
5 -once tracks 1-12 are clear hit punch preview again and now everyone is writing automation and I can bump and wiggle or whatever.

-Another thing you can do after the pass is save the preview buffer to a snap shot.

in stop
hit punch preview
now in snapshot hit capture then save to a snap shot slot/rename etc and you can recall your settings whenever
