Default new crowd

Is it just me, or has the population of the DUC changed considerably since Avid's mass mailing? Not so much the aspiring engineers now as it is the *ahem* unknowledgable dabbler. With a completely different set of expectations. It's hard to help these people.

If Avid thought the pros were complainers, they ain't seen nothing yet.

Perhaps it's just because it's even harder to find information now that they have this new website.

I'm seeing
  • less than one percent that have already looked but are truly stumped, and listen well when you do reach out to help them.
  • A larger percentage are just lazy, want the answer spoon-fed, and even then don't pay attention enough to use the help you give them (or argue with you about the help)
  • a certain percentage that should just throw the big power switch and step away from the equipment - permanently.

You may be right - that transition hasn't helped, although the old site wasn't exactly a sparkling mound of user-support treasures either.

I think it's a secret plot by Avid to clean the DUC of long-timers by making them mad enough to just go away.
