I know that a lot if folks don't need to be able to do this but for those of us that do a DSP system is the only way to do it.

I’m confused on this though as I’ve had big sessions mixed with my TDM Rig where all the drums go to a sub group, guitars to their own sub group etc etc but when I’ve tried to record their is latency and I have to route to recording track to the master out. Only TDM plugs used am I missing something??

To me. TDM kills for tracking, way better than HDX as you actually have plugins you can use.

It’s cheap these days to have both.

I decided to have both. I stopped using HD Native completely and I'm on Pro Tools 10 HD 99% of the time when I'm mixing! :)

It's always interesting to see how different flows work for diff situations. In my case, I inherit so many files from so many studios I couldn't deal with just PT10. Tracking, yes. Mixing? Not in my world for various reasons. Even with HD5 I ran out of voices pretty quick. My HDN is light years ahead of my TDM in terms of mixing. My main conundrum is this... is an HDX the best way I can improve my clients experience (and my own) while tracking?.

I've probably done a few thousand sessions with HDN At this point and no ones complained. On gigantic sessions (100+ tracks each with minimal 1-2 plugins on each), with maybe VE feeding drums and piano or Hammond.... and the usual 60-70 native plugins.... would HDX hiccup any less if I need to punch in late in mix? Keeping in mind that i didn't freeze the VIs. This is normal everyday life for
Me. I just want it to just work
