System Usage reads low but crashes still occur!

Hi all,

Dedicated PT LE user here since the release of the 001. I'm now on a 002r for the past few years. Just replaced my PT 7.4 with 8.0. Just replaced a G5 2.0 PPC with a new Imac 2.93 dual core.

Once I start using a second software instrument (I regularly use the Baby Grand) like the Organ, Structure...anything really.....Crash!

Melodyne also brings things to a halt more often than not. I've got the original 4 mb memory, only using Pro Tools with noting else simultaneously.

I have usually no more than 8-10 audio tracks at a time...usually no more than 5 or 6.
Waves SSL plugs, 1 instance of CSR on an Aux, master fader with 4-5 plugs on there...that's about it.


What can be done to improve performance? Is this machine simply not up to the task? Thx for any input!

Have you tried all the optimizations in the General Troubleshooting thread? Are all your installed plug-ins compatible? What type of drive are you using for recording/playback?
