Default PT12 HD latency with 192 I/O

I did a search for this and found a few things but still could use some help:

Recording in PT 12HD Native, 192 I/O, Yosemite, 32gb Ram. Record track is armed, and there is latency coming through monitors before and while recording.

While no errors come up, there is just latency, quite a gap, at least 200ms. Tried all buffer settings, only running 1 recorded track on a test session with no plugins.

Previously, there was no issue when running through a RME Fireface 802, it only occurred with the 192 (containing digital and analog cards - it's not a 'digital 192').

Both PT, 192, and my Mac settings are at 44.1k.

This latency occurred until I converted the session to 48k from 44.1k. There was no latency on the 48k session. After I converted a 2nd session and then made a new session in 48k and there was no latency as well.

It's a good thing that this is remedied, and I am not an authority on sample rates, but why would creating a session at 48 fix this?

Something is likely just wrong with the session.

You can export the audio into another session without changing sample rate.

If it happens again in multiple session.

Start with a trivial session. Turn off delay comp.

Play with buffer size and by routing stuff out and back into the interface measure your latency in samples and make sure it adds up to the expected IO buffer latency + conversion latency specs.

Hi Darryl,

Every session that I record with in 44.1k has the latency. Several were tried.

Delay Comp. has no affect to reduce the latency, nor does 'Low Latency Monitoring'.

Tried a session with one track and a master, no plugins on each.

I will try your latter suggestion.

I record with HD IO and 192 IO on HD/Native here and have no latency issues, UNLESS:
1-I forgot and added plugins that have lots of latency(this is why I always set the view in MIX window to show delay compensation)
2-I have a send on a track that has no destination. example; say I put a send on a guitar track to feed an AUX track with a delay plugin. Later on, I change my mind and delete the AUX track. With the send still in place(with no destination), Pro Tools will add around 1900 samples of compensation that doesn't belong. delet the send and the latency goes away

Albee, I do have a send on the track that goes to the input of my Behringer Powerplay P16 headphone monitor, but I can’t think of anywhere else to put it. The main question I’m seeking an answer is why is there no latency in 48k whereas there is in 44.1?

Obviously, shouldn't be happening. Have you trashed everything, Un-installed and re-installed?

Is this happening on newly created sessions?

Hi drew. No it doesn’t happen on newly created 48k sessions. But why?

There's obviously something up with certain sessions then. Post one if you like.

If it's not happening on newly created one sessions, it's not a "real" issue.

Have you tried making a new session and importing session data from a session that has the issue?
