Default Problem with Fades

I have just upgraded to LE v7.1 from v6.9 and I am having a problem with fade files. The volume levels are not right when playing back, but this only occurs over fade files.
For exammple let's say I have a region which fades in (one second) and later fads out (one second), and the volume automation is set at -10 db over the entire region, well the fade playback at a much higher level (seamingly ignoring the volume setting). So the fade is is loud, the body of the region is playing back correctly, and the fade out is loud again. Not good.
This problem only occurs occasionally, and randomly. But often over the same fades.
I am on a Power Mac G5 PPC system 10.4.6 , LE 7.1, Digi 002 rack.
Any help would be appreciated,
thanks in advance.
Daniel

Is this a 7.1 bug?

Until recently, I was running a similar set-up to you (though with up to date OS) and cannot recall ever having experienced this problem. I'm 'shooting from the hips' but probably worth trashing prefs, databases etc.

Default more problems with Fades

I have just noticed, when rendering a fade in or out on my stereo files, the fades playback mono. When there is no fade then the file plays back correctly (L,R)

Please, anyone with any knowledge of this problem please advise. I need some help.

Thanks,

D

Did you follow's Phil's suggestion? A trip to the "General Troubleshooting" thread may clear things up for you, it explains how to trash prefs etc. as Phil mentioned.

I trashed all preferences and databases. I have also trashed the sessions fade files folder and rerender the fades. No change.

okay, so I am noticing that this issue is only affecting regions which are referenced to omf media files. Anbody else have problems with omf media files in 7.1?
I think I may have to go back to 6.9.3 this is crazy.

I have done extensive omf file editing with fades, crossfades etc on 7.1 and have never come across this problem. Just had a thought.... maybe the omf came in with some wacky automation written on it. Try turning the automation completely off and see if your fades play back correctly

I have checked all of the automation, pans, volume, mutes are all okay. I think the problem may have something to do with the omf files being generated by Final Cut Pro. I have solved my problem by simply duplicating my entire session, and thus converting all of the omf media to aiff. So far so good. Thanks for the replies, and if anybody else knows about this problem, please post. I'd like to know what might have gone wrong.
