True. Some great sound-shaping capabilities.

Free download of limited kit.

Lovely GUI.

Works great.

Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance?

I have both BFD2 and Strike. Both very different from each other.

BFD2 for realism
Strike for Speed

I have also paid for Groove Agent 1 & 2, now that was a mistake. Great idea but buggy as hell.

We are all likely recommending whatever we use. I use ezdrummer and SD2 with several expansion kits. The Nashville EZX is a must and the Metal Foundry(SDX) is killer. BTW, all the EZX kits can be loaded into SD2 without ezdrummer.

if its confusing; SDX is an expansion kit for Superior Drummer 2, and EZX is an expansion kit for ezdrummer. SD can load all, ezdrummer can only load EZX. Ezdrummer has lots of midi drum loops so you can build a drum track with drag&drop. Once the track is built, since it is all midi and shows in the piano roll, you can edit to your heart's content(this may well be true of the other programs, I just don't happen to use them). Since you can load sample sounds into Structure Free, its possible to use any drum samples(probably with any of the mentioned drum packages).

I have Superior with several EZdrummer expansions.
I also have Steven Slate drums.
Superior is more natural but has vast tweakability to get any sound you want.
Steven Slate drums are more processed and sound awesome in mixes without any work.
I like both a lot. I think Superior is a little more "fun" because you can do so much with it. (and it has presets from producers to get you various cool drum sounds). I use them both equal amounts.

There is a great group buy going on for Ocean Way drums right now for 99 bucks. I'm not sure if I can give the link. If not sorry. You can google it if it gets removed. I've heard good things and that should get you a great start on drum programs. (many people like ocean way the best)

OWD sound too raw for me, which is GREAT for many, but I'm not a tweaker or engineer, which is why I prefer SSD-it makes me look good.

well a fair few options here which is good. i've listened to samples from most and i could easily achieve what i want, but. i guess the question is which one is reliable and works the best with pro tools 8. i don't know anyone with any of these programs or have the money to buy all.

cheers for the help.

DL and try AD.

DL and try KitCore.

SSD works great here in PT8, but NI makes me nervous.

Toontrack stuff works flawlessly here in PT8 also.

I'll never try BFD again.
