Default 60 cycle hum

I am trying to record an acapella song. I am getting a slight but audible 60 cycle hum that appears on playback, but is not audible as it is being recorded. Any suggestions?

Thank you

So important you had to post it twice huh?

Just giving you a hard time, the DUC is often kinda slow, so a lot of people hit that 'submit' button twice wondering why the page hasn't refreshed yet.

Anyway, check your live room, maybe you have something humming in the room (lights maybe?). If you get several tracks with a tiny amount of hum on them and play them together, the hum will be a lot louder. You can test this by doing a recording with no mics plugged in, just record 'silence' for a while with all your mics unplugged. If the noise is still there on playback, then it's something with your rig, but if it's not there, it's something you're recording through your mics.

I'm an official member of the Department of Redundancy Department.

I had already done as you suggested and recorded silence. Hum still there.

I'm going through now and eliminating ground lift problems with each piece of gear. Still there.

I think I'm gonna eliminate some cheaper pres and use my better stuff directly into the 002. My Vintech hummed badly when patched in through the Digimax LT, but is as quiet as a mouse going directly into channel one of the 002. I suspect it's an issue with the Digimax. I'm gonna record silence using the Digimax pres and see if I still get the 60 cycle.

Thanks for your help.
Thanks for your help.

I used to hum with digi 002 rack and a dual G5. I got an EBTech line level converter and that stopped it.
