Default Compression for breathy vocals

I am recording a project right now, where the singer insists that he wants the voice to sound "sexier", and more breathy. I am going in tomorrow to work with the take. Should I have compressed the signal in a certain way to get a breathier sound, or can I do it afterwards by simply changing the compression? And if that is so should I just squash the vocal to bring up the quiet parts or is it a matter of mixing two different takes?

There is a technique called whisper track where you have the singer do a take in a whisper, compress it severely, then mix it back into the orignal. Try that.

Mult the vocal to multiple tracks or use Aux Tracks.. on one use a high pass filter and compress it... add that under the main vocal track.

Here ya go. By yours truley. Have fun.

You'll also find some tips from Rail in there.

Although I noticed he wasn't as detailed this time in his post above mine. Maybe his fingers are getting soar from all that typing.

The mega tips one will find when you do a quick search of the DUC.
