Default After PTLE reinstall my hard drive "is not an audio playback volume"

Hey,

I reinstalled my operating system earlier this week (10.2.6), and then I tried reinstalling ProTools 6. Since then, whenever I try to open a session, I get an error message saying that my hard drive is not an audio playback volume, and it wont play and audio stored on it (my only hard drive!), so I can't do anything.

I tried deleting PT and installing again, but I got the same results. Does anyone have any idea what I can do?

Thanks,
Phil.

It is advised yhou do not use your system drive (where your OS and Protoosl are located) for audio.

Install a second physical drive to your Mac, or get a FW or SCSI external for all audio.

Hope this is helpful.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Thanks for the help.

Once I get some money saved up I'll add another hard drive, but I was hoping for a quicker solution. I was successfully using ProTools before I reinstalled the OS with this same setup, I just wish I could figure out what's changed.

Can anyone from DigiDesign help me out?

You should use the Apple Disk Utility to repair permissions on that drive. If that doesn't work, uninstall and reinstall Pro Tools and you should be ready to rock.

Oh, wait - first try (in Pro Tools) going to the Window menu and select 'Show Workspace' - you'll see your drive listed on the left, to the right under the 'A' column it will have either a 'T' or a 'P', click on the 'T' or 'P' and select 'Record'. If it doesn't allow you, try the things listed above.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Bitchin. That worked. I still have much to learn in the ways of ProTools. I owe you one.

Thanks everyone,
Phil.
