Default Blue Screen of death caused by AvidMboxPro.sys

HP Pavilion Slimline s5610y; 596GB Western Digital WDC WD64 00AAKS-65Z7B0 SATA Disk Device (SATA); 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 531MHz
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Avid Mbox Pro 3rd generation
Pro Tools 10
--------------------------------
Multiple times a day, while streaming internet video, my PC crashes and I get a blue screen referencing AvidMboxPro.sys.
I did try to generate a Sandra report; however, it wouldn't let me.
Instead I invite you to view this windows 7 forum post posted by me about this problem : http://www.sevenforums.com/bsod-help...net-video.html

Please check out all 3 pages of post, and let me know what you think. Thank you.

You are going to need to complete the Sandra report to get any real help. Without that, we are shooting in the dark. Having said that, I suspect a few things already;
#1-you may have in incompatible firewire controller
#2-you only listed a single hard drive(Pro Tools needs a separate drive for sessions)
#3-"Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 531MHz" 531Mhz is(to me) really slow and an odd number
#4-I would try uninstalling the Mbox driver and downloading/installing fresh
I would also check the computer's function without the Mbox driver installed(test it for a day, after you remove the driver) to see if it gives any BSOD without the driver installed.
#5-a very quick internet search shows this to be probably not a good computer for Pro Tools due to integrated graphics and a completely unknown chipset(traditionally, the chipset will make or break a Pro Tools computer). If it has a sempron cpu, that's also unsupported. I also see no firewire port, so what model FW card do you have?

Thanks for the tips. However, my Pro Tools functions fine. This is about the Avid MBox Pro soundcard. I only get the BSOD when streaming internet video, mostly Youtube. Computer crashes. AvidMboxPro.sys is the culprit. By the way, everything has been fine for a year and a half -- just suddenly started getting these BSOD's afew months ago. I will try uninstalling and re-installing. Any other advice? Is ProTools going to update the driver?

Set Windows to NOT use the Mbox as its default playback device. That avoids any hardware conflicts(both Windows and Pro Tools attempting to use the same hardware). Now you're wondering how you can hear audio from the internet; you have several options:
1-add a set of computer speakers fed by the computer's own audio out.
2-use a monitor/source selector(I use the Presonus Central Station)
3-route the Mbox outs AND the computer audio out into a small mixer(Alto, Behringer, etc). All you need are 2 stereo inputs and even the little $49 mixers at GC will cover that(and most of these cheap mixers are clean and quiet enough these days)

4 – Without adding any hardware, switch from internet audio to Pro Tools audio with a Windows Desktop Shortcut to “Sound” – see pics

In the Playback Tab in “Sound” – choose Avid Mbox Pro to hear internet audio and choose your computer’s sound (this pic = Conexant) to hear audio in Pro Tools
