UAD plugins and Pro Tools HDX

Pro Tools HDX is now floating point math, like UAD plugins. Avid and Universal Audio announced their partnership recently. It would be a great move for both to port UAD plugins to AAX DSP format. There were UAD TDM plugins in the past, so I don't think this is unlikely. Wouldn't it be fun? :)

Yes, that would be great , but as the whole idea with UAD is to have their "DSP-card" as a dongle, it will never happen I guess.
I would love to have UAD plugins running without the UAD card. Then I could put another accel card in my Mac Pro instead.

I imagine it could be like this:

You have an UAD card and if you have Pro Tools HDX you have an option of running low latency versions of UAD plugins on HDX card.

I think the point tho is that UA doesnt want a version of code to even exist that doesnt require their card to actually run.

Of course an AAX version would make things a lot easier!

I have Tons of UAD plugins and they are great but always an issue when needing to run on another system or something. Cant just turn up at a studio with a drive and an ilok.

Would love to see the UAD 1176 released in HDX. Especially if you could open a PT7.x session that had the old TDM version of that plug.

IMO, the UAD 1176 plug is by far the best version of the 1176 out there. It's why I've frozen my system on PT 7.4 and a PPC for the last 3 years now!

UAD cards are NOT an option for those of us that require low-latency (i.e overdubbing or tracking with plug ins enabled)
