Default Automation Delay Compensation Bug w/ objects?

macOS 10.14.6, PT Ultimate 2020.11, Native Mac Pro 6,1:

This is complex, but dangerous. In my template, I have tracks that have object assignments, but when mixing in 5.1, those tracks are in bed mode, and the object is unassigned ("Object 11" for example is in italics). Delay compensation of audio is correct, but automation delay compensation is not happening!

•If I switch the output to "no object" automation delay compensation works.

•Then if I switch it back to an object output, automation delay compensation continues to work.

The reason this is dangerous is because on session open, all the tracks with unassigned objects won't do automation delay compensation until you toggle them off and on again. Additionally, if you are mixing in Atmos and you switch from Object to Bed, automation delay compensation seems to fail until you toggle to no object and back again.

(The easiest way to test this is with knife-edge automation going from silence to unity, that way you can easily hear the length of the uncompensated audio sneaking out from under the knife-edge.)

I'm filing a support ticket with Avid and going to get more coffee...

Thanks for the heads up. Has this been fixed in 2020.12 by any chance?

Jeff Komar, who has been great help to me, might have an answer to this..

Not fixed in 2020.12. But through customer care, Avid has expressed interest in figuring it out. I'm sharing some sessions with them. Can anyone corroborate? I'm confident that this is a bug, since it happens with new sessions, and not just old sessions. But it's possible that my IO setup is corrupt in some way. Thanks.

Is this only happening for you on Object tracks? I'm having a similar issue on regular audio tracks:

These might be related. Your bug report appears to be plug-ins misreporting their delay to PT. The bug I'm talking about here can be eliminated by toggling the object off and back on, and then PT fixes itself. By the way, I discovered this during a regular 5.1 mix because I had unassigned objects.

Is it changing for you if you remove plug-ins or change the track delay?
