Default Access Violation Error - PT8LE

Win XP Pro - 4GB DDR2 - SATA's - Dual 2.4 - 002R - ADS Pyro64

K, only getting this in 8

Select an area... regions or not, in the edit window timeline
Click and/or drag universe window.....

Access Violation Error....

Click and/or drag universe window......
scroll wheel on mouse.....

Access Violation Error....

Or any combination of the two.......

PT gets glitchy, lagging a little, and waveforms get drawn funky...
Like I had a mono audio track of regions that looked like out of phase stereo regions... LOL

I think we even had some ghost tracks..... that didn't really exist....

Scrolling the screen to refresh/redraw didn't clean it up.

So, every time it happened we saved and closed.
Opens back up fine.

Sorry for the lack of specifics.
My engineer does things differently.... I don't use the universe window, so this doesn't happen to me.
Happened to me ONCE... so I didn't pay much attention.

I'm thinking this may have came with the upgrade to Waves 7 last week.

I don't recall for sure.

I will troubleshoot more this weekend, and try to recreate it very specifically, and write down the access violation error info....

Just wanted to see if there is a known bug here that I haven't read about.

I really wish I had the time to read tons of threads, but just don't at the moment.

I'm on 8.0.3 I believe.

Rock solid on 7.3......

8 has been solid aside from some minor things..... like this.....
Kind of a pain in front of clients... close, open, close, open,

So, please forgive me if this has been covered, and if you could find it in your heart, shoot me some info, or links to specific threads, docs, pages, whatever.

Thank you.

Default Re: Access Violation Error - PT8LE

there are 100 threads about this but zero answers.

you'll get the usual "make sure all your plugs are legit and up to date" but once you've confirmed they are then the answers disappear and all you're left with is a broken PT8 and old install disk of 7.4 that looks very tempting...

sorry if im no help but have a search around and you'll see where im coming from.

Default Re: Access Violation Error - PT8LE

Well then.... Let me kick off a theory

All my plugs are up to date.
Latest CS of PT8LE
System was perfect prior to 8 - happy as of now, just a few quirks

That all being said.......

I remember jumping to Waves 5.9.7 with PT 7.x

Had some glitches, and Waves said update your video drivers.
Did that and all was well in PTville

Just an idea here, but witht he implementation of the universe window,
PT8..... And Waves 7 in my case...........

Wondering if it may be a video card / video driver issue.......

Very well could be.... I have an old card installed.

I've got 3 other cards... newer... I'll try all 4 cards with newest drivers and see what's up.

I will also write down the access violation error number, cause it would be nice to see where it's coming from.... Like, what's the origin....

The symptom and error code spit out is just a tiny piece of the puzzle.

But it is a start
