Default Acronis True Image Question.

I just ordered Acronis True Image Home 2010.

I have seen albee1952 suggest this software for backup many times.

I do not have it yet but wanted to get thoughts from those here at the DUC who use it.

I have just ordered an new WD CB 500 7200 32mb cache hard drive to replace my current system drive a WD 320gb 7200 8mb cache drive.

I am sure this is easy I am just trying to get my head around this.

I am under the impression that I can clone my system drive "c" onto an external drive. Then reinstall the system information on to a new "C" drive?

I hope this is correct?

Also does Acronis allow you to make bootable iso image of a system drive?

So you can install it like you would an operating system?

Thanks for any help.

It will even install to a disk of different size. Acronis is the stuff!

Can you Explain this scenario in a little more detail?

Thanks

You can migrate your exsisting drive to a new drive thats larger or smaller and it will resize things automatically.

Cool this what I will want to do. Then I will take the old out and start using my new drive.

Will I have to rename the new drive "C" or will it do that also?

No. it should handle that since its just cloning and resizing you C drive.

If you can afford it I strongly suggest leaving your old C Drive in the drawer as a failsafe backup.

INDEED
I try to always keep a drive with the previous working setup, in case any update goes sour on me. That alone made the cloning worth it a few times.
