Sorry man....someone will correct me if I am wrong but, that is what the plug in is for....it needs to be plugged in to work the sound, if you take it off no amp....does that make sense?

I suppose you could bounce the track to disk and reimport it as a wav file. But why?

You can use it on an aux track and bus it to an audio track.

I do something similar, but I use two audio tracks: one records the direct guitar (so I can change the tone later if I want), and one gets the bussed output of whatever modeling plugin I'm using.

Write the track to another track and then delete, or deactivate the original. Easy as that.

The only problem is wont I get some latency with that? I am recording all the guitars with the click , if I rewrite the original track w/ amplitube to an new track, will the latency be off to the click?
I am kinda disapointed that if I record w/ the amplitube, that the playback will only have the amplitube sound if the plugin remains on the insert. (lame)

(So everybody understands what i am doing: guitar direct-->preamp-->digi002 w/ amplitube on the track while recording)

so;
guitar direct-->preamp-->aux track w/ amplitube on the track-->bus-->audio track with bus as input
or in my case:
guitar direct-->preamp-->audio track for DI w/ amplitube on the track-->bus-->audio track with bus as input

Well, I'm into that.
I have POD XT and Amplitube.
I would like to try that as well.
Should i get DI Box?
What is a good DI Box.

We used to record guitar to tape and send signal to amp from tape's direct out and hear that back while playing. Then, only the guitar used to get recorded. This way, you could re-tone the amp if it does not sit right in the mix.

Have you guys ever tried that?

Yes it is cool just to send it to another audio track using any stereo out except 1 and 2. I think you would have to disable your other tracks to do that. That way you can save your original track dry. You can also bounce to disc and import to another track0 I do that a lot too. In my limited experience, I generally dont want to run Amplitube on more than two tracks at the same time. I also save settings or just put some notes into the comments section on the mix window.
