Default 2022 Crash Behaviour in Windows. Anyone?

Hey guys. I remember a thread about PT disappearing from the Windows 'Programs and Features' list. From what I've seen, serious crashes sometimes remove PT 2022+ from the uninstall list. This is the first time I've experienced this after using PT in Windows for 20+ years. PT continues working, but misbehaves.

It took me some time to realize what was happenning. That means you don't have the standard Windows uninstall option. Reinstalling PT will uninstall it sort of (unreliably sometimes) and you may have to do it at least twice to actually uninstall it. I have had to sometimes do it three times to uninstall it properly before I can even manually clean up traces of the previous installation.

My system is healthy, and I pay a lot of attention to system health. Are any other Windows users seeing this?

Never seen that here and I'm on a 4th gen Quad Core i7 with 32 GB of RAM. I'm on 2022.7, latest W10 Pro and always uninstall before updating Pro Tools.

I also always uninstall older versions (and manually clean up traces) before updating. This is definitely new behaviour that I noticed in 2022.

I also always go to Programs and features and uninstall any previous version before running an installer. I recently had a situation where I was having issues getting an install to complete and ended up using Revo Uninstaller(free) to clear out Pro Tools and Ccleaner to clear out the registry. After that, I was able to install PT successfully

Yes, Dave, but what do you do when a crash has removed PT from the Programs and Features list? I know I'm not the only person who has seen this. What I do then is to install PT again, as that would first of all uninstall the previous one. After that, I can clean up and then do a proper installation.

Can you rollback to a previously working boot drive image?

Yes, but I think that would be overkill if the system is working well and the only issue is with PT.

Ah yes, I had to re-read to see where I went off-track(sorry). I have never had a crash in PT in the past 4 years and never had a crash remove PT from the list. Hopefully, Revo can solve that for you and others(though this is the first I am reading about this issue)
