Default H/W Buffer Issue while recording

Good morning, I have a session open in 11.3.1. When I want to record, I try to set buffer lower but system freezes at any level below 512. There's so much latency at 512 , there's no way to record unless you don't listen. Has anyone else had this problem? Thank you,RichrdC

Gonna need a lot more info before anyone can really help.

Have a read at this link and come back with ALL the details on your setup. I suspect you have something going on from this list:
underpowered or non-approved system
system not tweaked according to Avid recommendations
Recording to a non-approved drive(too slow or maybe the system drive)
plugins in place that are adding latency

On my system, I track bands all day at the 64 buffer setting(very low latency) and I make sure that I have no active plugins that cause more than a few samples of latency(my worst is IK's Amplitube with 7 samples). My sessions have plenty of high-latency plugins in place, but they are made inactive until its time to mix.
Gigabyte X79/intel i7 3930K, 32GB RAM, DIGI003 Rack

The better I drink...the more I mix.....

BTW, my name is Dave, but most people call me.........................Dave
