"Pro Tools ran out of CPU power" message, then unusably glitchy playback afterwards
Every so often PT will throw up this error message:
Usually not a lot is happening in the session when this pops up, and I generally don't run a lot of plugins in a session anyway. Once I've dismissed the error message, PT playback is SUPER glitchy, like constant non-stop audio dropouts, such that it almost sounds like a comb filter or something. The only fix is to either quit and restart PT or to re-select my audio interface in Setup -> Playback Engine. The error message itself is fine, it's the fact that playback is unusably glitchy straight afterwards that's the big problem. Any idea why this is the case? |

Re: "Pro Tools ran out of CPU power" message, then unusably glitchy playback afterwar
Was having this problem earlier this week after committing my system drive to 10.10.5 and PT 12.4 after successful tests on my Test drive. So far the solution for me was to trash preferences, do a disk repair and do a full reboot.
Since then I've been able to run no problem, 3 hours at a time with pluggin heavy sessions with 25 tracks (no VI's)

You can find the Pref Trasher tool here: New PT Prefs helper http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=340741 Then after that empty your trash, run a disk repair and do a FULL reboot.

Gee, mustgroove, you didn't tell us ANYTHING about your host computer, not even what version of what OS. So my best guess on available info is the thing doesn't line up with the gizmo...... OR you're not using a qualified secondary drive.
