Default Help me understand the consequences of this upgrade...

Hi,

I have PT 11.3.1 installed. I'm getting the AVID emails that I should upgrade to 12 for $99 now, or face higher costs in 2016.

I think I'd like to do the upgrade because:

1. I'm hoping to eliminate some bugs I have now, and despite the assurance when I upgraded to 11 that I would have free updates for a year, AVID has failed to grant me the 11.3.2 download(let's not go into it, there are plenty of threads on that subject).

2. There seem to be a few new features coming on which I could use now.

3. I need to stay up with PT until I can transition to Studio One.

So, please help me understand.....

If I buy the $99 upgrade today, I lose the PT 10/11 PERPETUAL license on my iLok in exchange for renting PT12 for a year, after which I owe another $99(or whatever fee AVID(should they still exist) decides I owe at that point)?????

When I went to 11, I prepared a whole other system disk which I can boot to with PT10, so that I can open old sessions with the RTAS stuff, so losing the PT10 license could just be the deal killer.

Am I straight? have I overlooked anything?

Thanks....

Yeah you are overlooking the fact you get PT10/11/12 in that bundle and when you decide to opt out you will gave the PT version you had when you stop.

So .. It will stop at that version and will be a perpetual license albeit no updates coming your way after that.

There's no gotcha for this deal.

Pay the 99 you get upgraded for one more year you get 10/11/12 all bundled together. When you decide to switch to Studio One the last spot you upgraded to will be your standing perpetual licence.
