PT LE audio cuts out during playback

I have PT LE 8.0.5/003 workstation running on a Mac Pro with OS 10.6.7, 2.66 Quad, 16GB RAM.

My problem is during playback the audio will randomly cut out. I hear a small pop and then silence. The meters on the master fader show nothing while the tracks are still bouncing away. Headphone audio also cuts out. If I restart the session everything works fine until the next time it cuts out. Its starting to happen more and more frequently.

I also started having problems with my Hendrix Amplitube plug-in. Sometimes when I start a session the track doesn't play and I have to close and re-open the plug-in. The audio can also stop during playback and closing/reopening the plug-in fixes it until it happens again.

I have the same problem with certain plugins. Once I initiate it, I hear a big POP and then nothing, but all of the meters still move during playback. This probably doesn't solve your situation, but try making your inserts inactive one by one until you find the culprit.

Also, did you try trashing the DAE prefs? Its a long shot, but that was common practice with my MIX|24 system.
