Default How does one \"allocate more memory to DAE\"?

I'm running a D24/DSP Farm/2xMix Farm/1.25GHz G4/10.3.8, and anytime I'm recording more than about 4 tracks I get a spinning beach ball everytime I hit record, then a message that says "please allocate more memory to Pro Tools". I've been searching around, and can't find any way to allocate this memory. Any help would be REALLY appreciated. Thanks!

Judging from your post, I think you are running a totally unsupported system. I don't think the D24 is supported on OS X, any version. You're sort of tricking the system into thinking it is a Mix configuration, but it's really not.

Your system will work well in OS 9, PT 5.1.3. Either stay with that or upgrade the D24 to a Mix core card and run PT 6.4.1. You can't manually assign memory to an application in OS X; it is done dynamically according to the application's needs.

Just out of curiosity, and the odd chance that it might work, do you have a Mix Farm as your first card in the slot order? The D24 is basically just a dongle that allows Pro Tools to launch and doesn't really have any DSP processing power. But a Mix Farm card has to be first in the card order for Pro Tools to see it a Mix system.

Sorry I was a little incomplete in my post. I'm running 6.4.1, and my card order is Mix Farms, D24, and DSP Farm. Thanks!

Pg. 40 of the 6.4 manual...

Choose setups>Playback Engine

From the DAE Playback Buffer pop-up menu, select a buffer size

Click OK

Restart
