I have a client who brought 3 sessions he needs to tweak. He fails to tell me that these sessions were done years ago in DP 5. No one I know has this software and the latest version of Digital performer cannot read the files either. I'm using MAC OS. Any one has any suggestions?

digital performer forum and ask for an omf export from someone with v5?
Proconvert was other thought but it doesn't seem to deal with DP at all. Good luck. |

They could be SDII files? If so, older PT rigs might be able to read them.

What did he bring them to you on? If it was a thumb drive or any other media formatted for a PC you won't be able to access them. If he still has his Mac with DP5, tell him to zip the sessions and then you'll be able to import the audio files when you unzip or the current version of DP on the Mac will open the session file.

If they have the unix exec icon then that's the problem - the file resource forks have been stripped. Zipping the session folder on the original Mac for transfers preserves the resource forks.

do the files have extensions on them? if not could it be that adding an extension to the filename might enable DP8 to see the file? installed DP8 demo to see if I could see any clues and in the manual it lists that it can export to DP 3.1 upwards and import from "Files created in earlier versions of Digital Performer and Performer"
Don't use DP so have no real life experience with it, just spitballing. C |
