I'm not crystal on this.. is this just for ultimate perp or can a vanilla perp also take advantage of this? The deal is on my Avid offers, downloads, etc. I'm frozen on a 2018 vanilla perp on Mojave but also have a current 2021 sub on Catalina/Big Sur that yes, like a drug, I'm hooked. Almost took the bait with the Carbon/Ultimate promo but as usual that's a lot of cash for guy who has spent TONS on Digi/Avid over the years. Would like ultimate though for some surround fun being the audio freak that I am. PS. Avid this whole subscription model, like masses have mentioned, really sucks.

Thing is, honestly I don't see a significant issue per se ???
Since it was you who let it lapse, you were apparently ok with it being frozen at the version you were on in 2020...........

You seem to be exactly who this promo is targeted at. You can still keep and be able to use your frozen perpetual version But you will also be able to subscribe to a current subscription update/support plan for $100 less than if you were to have kept current and renewed a (non lapsed) perpetual upgrade/support plan , at least for the first year,,, and then you can continue to subscribe at the same price as renewing a non lapsed perpetual upgrade/support plan (ergo I don't see an issue)

The only difference of course is your perpetual will not be upgradeable which apparently seems to be the choice you made in 2020 ,,,understanding I may not know your entire specific story, is you choosing to let it expire the situation ? Or am I missing something ?

BTW back in the day the Captain of my ski team had a brand new 64 GTO what a cool car .
When I let it lapse I figured that if I wanted to renew it would cost effective to purchase a new perpetual license rather that pay 200 a year for what had been only 99 a year and very little upgrade for many years. I still think it's a better deal for me to do it that way. That is my path to upgrade. I just think that Avid may eventually do away with a perpetual product period. That's what I would find difficult.
For now I can choose 200 a year support or every three years buy a new license, which is the way I prefer. More time spent recording, less time spent upgrading and/or learning what has changed.

But for 100 bucks to spend a year trying the new stuff without surrendering my license? That's a good deal IMO, the problem is I still haven't got a "unique avid store promo code" on my products yet.

PS My GTO is in the garage. Didn't buy it new, got it in 1983. Third owner.

Maybe they don't want me to take up the offer, whatever it is?

Same here, and I already have all 3 Crane Song plugins, and an S3 and HDX, Omni, still have my HD3 Accel since 2007, etc, etc, etc, and have been on the update path since then until Feb 2021. Just wondering what’s the secret handshake

I have a perpetual license, computer running Mojave. I will update my support plan next year when it’s due, but it’s possible that said PT 2022 update will no longer work on Mojave.

One day I will get one of the new M1s, but will still want to possibly use my Mojave version once in a while on the Mojave machine.

So, can two different versions of PT be used on two different computers, at different times? I would want to use 2021 PT on my Mojave computer, and any updated version of PT on a new M1. I know with Logic or Studio One I can do this, but not sure about PT.

Yes, it's easy.
You buy a new license, a monthly or a yearly subscription, and keep the old perpetual one, so you have two. What you don't wanna do is "upgrade" your perpetual (and get the first months free, the whole first year cheaper, or whatever the "deal" is), because it means you surrender the perpetual license and the subscription only allows you to run the latest version.
This is complicated territory, but I'm pretty shure I got it right.

So in other words, unlike other Daws, PT is not allowed to be installed on two of your own computers? You have to buy two licenses?

No, you can install PT on as many computers as you like. You just need the licens(es) to run them. You can have both the subscription license and the old perpetual license on your iLok, and plug it in to whichever computer you want, and run either the current or the old version of PT.

Of course, if you want to be running them both at the same time, you'd need two iLoks.
