Yes I totally agree with this HD users have always seem to be paying the most [ by a wide margin] and getting the least from the companies upgrades and policies

As an HD user is 600$ easy to swallow for all of you?
it is not here...

Not cool, and I won't be upgrading my 11HD license, I'm leaving it to freeze where it is. I just can't justify that as an ex CPTK upgrader, there are now only a couple of features of interest to me that aren't cascaded down into vanilla.

And given that Avid stated that its focus for HD users is on improving stability and integration with its high end hardware consoles/surfaces, with new HD features further off into the future, there is zero incentive to upgrade anyway.

With the new pricing policy reducing the penalty fee for signing up to a support plan late, I'll wait to see if anything emerges that really does justify that price tag.

I have two student vanilla licenses too, so I've got 12 vanilla anyway, and there is now very little from HD that I use that isn't cascaded down into 12.2 vanilla.

I'll make do without those few things, and can still use 11HD if I absolutely need to, e.g. for surround work.

I only do stereo and mostly music. But I have stayed on the TDM to HD wagon for many year$... [$]

Is there anyone else who is feeling that splitting this fee is the best way forward?

More people would upgrade Im sure if this was split

PT Expert found a pretty low # people who are going to upgrade on a poll

splitting this HD fee would " at least" double the number who would upgrade, IMO

But If we dont say anything... then..
spend away Dear DUC"ers

I can see no reason why HD users should be unable to choose to have support or not, doesn't make a great deal of sense to me ...

I'm using unqualified computers at home and unqualified interfaces at the studio. What are my chances of getting comprehensive support anyway?

The HD support element of the current HD upgrade and support plan cost should be something that people can choose to buy, and it should only be relevant to people with Avid HD hardware.

For those of us using Avid non-HD or third party hardware, we should be able to buy a vanilla support plan, if we want it, and an HD upgrade plan.

Perhaps just splitting would be a good step...

AVID :
you want more people on your upgrade roSter? to show shareholders?

split the fee and I think youll get a lot more engineers on your " plan"

I'd be much more apt to renew if they offered an HD upgrade-only plan.

Frankly the only times I've needed Avid support is for problems with their new support plans (missing PT12 downloads/iLok auths, missing "free" pro plugins).

I'm not inclined to renew with the current HD offerings. Might keep my vanilla license current but I'll likely freeze my HD at 12 unless something changes.
