I have had a few problems with pops and cracks just using the PMIO, but I will find out when I get the LS56 if it's something in my setup or just the PMIO. It doesn't want to let me record to my external HD in a daisy chain with it, so I'm hoping the LS56 is my savior.

Here's hoping!
I have one on order now, too! Should be in by next week, can't wait!

Got the LS 56 earlier tonight, got home and tried to configure it with my ProjectMix I/O and so far I got things working together. Haven't done anything serious but a few tests to get it up and running. Will post again when I have had more time to mess with it and optimize my setup. So far I'm pretty happy with it and it solved a few of my problems. Will keep you posted.

How do you think the Saffire 56 compares to a 002R Black Lion? What do you suppose my 002R Black Lion might sell for? I'm considering making a change...

I see used 002R's going for about 250.00. The Black Lion mod might get you an extra 25.00-50.00. You might do better on EBay especially to a buyer who knows what the Black Lion mod is.

I have an 003r BLA Sig mod and added an LS56 a few months back.

I am currently running the 56 ADAT into the 003r and while the 56 is nice the modded 003r does surpass it. The LS56 is a great unit though and I guess it depends on what BLA mod you have. It's been awhile but as I remember the LS56 stock sounds a bit better than the 003r did stock when I first got it, which sounded much better than the stock 002r I had. The other thing is while I had no real problems with the 56 PT9 integrates excellently with the 003r.

I checked Ebay prices and they're going for a lot more than I thought.

Forgive me if this question has already been discussed. Any latency issues with the Saffire 56 on Win 7 and PTools 9.0.3? (I've been using my trusty 002R Black Lion at buffer 64 and am fine with that amount of latency.)

Much of the sale price depends if the unit has been used for the PT9 crossgrade yet or not. Those that have not been used for the crossgrade are worth more while those that have already been used for the crossgrade are worth less (not worthless). I still have an 002R (although not using it at the moment) and still think it was a very good interface. The LS56 sounds much better in my opinion so I use that all the time now.

As for the buffer latency, I switch back and forth for tracking and mixing. For tracking I normally settle at 128 as 64 sometimes gives me errors. I read that some folks can tweak their system further to achieve a buffer of 64 and have stability. For mixing I use 1024. I'm on a Mac however and Windows 7 may give you different (better or worse) results.

Yes, but I'm wondering if the latency with a 56 will be any different than the latency with a 002R - due to the hardware. Any other surprises in store for me if I switch from my rock-solid Win 7/PT 9.0.3/002R BLA to the 56?

Latency has never been an issue for me. In fact, you can pre-monitor inputs through the onboard DSP before the audio even hits Pro Tools.
