Cool drum volume too low for avoiding clipping

Hi all!

So I'm trynna lay down drums with my alesis pro dm6, got a 1/8" plug to 1/4" adapter into the guitar input interface because alesis is retarded for not making a legit 1/4" output. Pro tools picks up the signal but in order to avoid clipping I practically have to have the volume/gain to an unhearable level. even with output all the way up can't hardly hear. When mixing, I have to
lower all other tracks for the drums to be heard but then the music is too quiet! If I raise the gain to actually hear myself play drums, the clipping sounds horrible and super fuzzy. Is there a way to hear your drums without
clipping and have them at "average music cd" volume? I mainly play guitar so perhaps I dont know a drum technique for this. I cant afford real drums n' mics so anyone with digital drums have a solution? Thanks!

Which interface are you using? You should be going into a line input, not the guitar input...

you mean the xlr input? the reason i ask is theres only two inputs on my fast track. If thats what i need to do i'll need to see if they sell a 1/8" to xlr output adapter, (or something in between to link the two) is that what you meant? I appreciate you replying promptly and merry Christmas to you!
