Mackie HUI and Pro Tools 6

Do they function fully together? I was looking into picking up a mackie control, but it seems like the HUI can do more and plus its got that sweet analog control room section.

I use the hui. It's flawless and offers more control over PT than any other surface besides Pro Control, but that control room section leaves a lot to be desired IMO (it sounds like ass!).

that bad? I'm using a samson c control right now. Do you think it'd sound worse than that? My only reason for getting an HUI over the mackie control is because of the control room section as well as the meters. Would I be better off with the mackie control?

I haven't used the samson, but it's probably way better than the hui's control room section imo. If you want the best control room monitor device out there at the moment, check out the presonus central station studio control center. I haven't used the mackie control, so I don't know what it lacks as far as functionality compared to the HUI, but the hui has everything. As for the meters, I find myself rarely looking to them, I've got the cinema displays in front of me with meters right there on the tracks, and all my 888's to the right of me.

but how bad is this monitoring section? are you talking in terms of sound quality or features? cause it seemed the features are exactly what i need.

I'm referring solely to sound quality.
