Default mbox 2 pro with fw800

I have gone through all the posts and still haven't found exact answer for this.

I have the new macbook pro with a fw800 port. I have a mbox 2 pro with fw400 ports.

I want to record some music.

How is it possible? any issues? What do I need to buy to connect these two?

Thanks a tonne!.. I have been looking for an answer for past 3 months.

You can:
1) get a 800 to 400 firewire cable and daisy chain your hard drive and interface

or

2) buy an expresscard and separate the interface and hd on different busses. Interface on expresscard, hd on MBP or vice versa. Either way, you'll need a fw800 to 400 cable if you only have 400 speed drives.

If you connect the interface to the expresscard, you'll need the power adapter as the expresscards don't provide bus power without an optional adapter.

Agreed on the siig card, that is the one I have. As far as a good cable, I like the Belkin one I got at the apple store, not cheap but works well.

As far as mbox2 pro with 800, I think that is when using the interface along with a 800 speed hard drive off the same bus. I think that as long as they are on separate busses it should be ok.
