Default does Am in guitar convert to a regular note in say

a keyboard? The progression is Am G D C but on my keyboard how do I play the Am for a bassline?

Am is a chord, not a note. The root note is A regardless of what instrument it's played on. So for your bass line try playing an A, E, or C. But it doesn't even have to be a note that in the chord, it can be any note that you think sounds good over the chord. It's and art, not a science.

i like playing H notes over Ams! seriously though, this is pretty basic stuff. go buy a mel bay guitar chord book and have a look. lots of options. it all depends on the chord progression. or not.
