Default Cannot get my CME M-Key midi keyboard setup to work in Pro tools 12

Hi all

I've just upgraded my pro tools from 8 to 12 with duet Apogee. I am having difficulty setting up my CME M-Key midi keyboard to be recognised in pro tools 12. I used to be able to assign an instrument track in a session, then choose ie Mini Grand, then the CME midi keyboard would just work and be assigned to whichever instrument i chose. What are the steps to setting up a midi keyboard in pro tools 12 as it's been about 5 years since i did it with the same midi keyboard in pro tools 8! Also, can you just connect the USB from the midi keyboard straight into Apogee Duet via the midi usb connection on the back of the Duet or do I still have to connect via one of the usb slots on my windows PC like i have done when i was running pro tools 8? Many Thanks.

Yes you can use the MIDI connection on the back of the Duet to connect your keyboard. You may need to install drivers for your keyboard though either way you connect the CME.

In PT make sure that in Preferences you have 'use first selected track' checked. I don't know the exact menu structure in Windows so you'll have to suss that out for yourself (aka read the manual). Also make sure that your keyboard and PT are working on the same MIDI channel.
