Default changing midi grid

how do i change the grid when editing midi notes...i want the grid lines to not only run horizontal but vertical as well.

Sound's like you need to turn on grid mode. There's a button in the upper left corner, next to the "slip" button. You can change the size of the grid in the upper right corner.
