Default Ramsa WR-DA7 to Pro Tools 10

I have an older version of pro tools I picked up(figured bringing the software to the hardware compatibility was better than trying to force really expensive hardware to work with software) anyways, I need to connect my WR-DA7 to pro tools as a controller. I figured out that it can't have audio sent on a send return setup without another card, unless there is a way. But anyways, I bought the serial pcie card and the DIN8 to DB9 cord. The port I am plugging it into on the back is TO PC. Now what? I'm kinda used to hybrid setups.(M-Audio Delta 1010lt and 8 channel in/8 out.) But I want to utilize all channels of the board and meter the channels on the hardware itself. I've asked this question on 6 different forums and it's like everybody over there is dead. It's been silent on ALL topics. So I figured I'd try it over here.

If you can get this to work, it would probably be through the MIDI port rather than the serial port. The manual doesn't mention HUI, but it does describe how to assign MIDI CC values for channel functions. You'll have to google and see if you can find the CC channels used by HUI. Given the vintage and scarcity of this unit, you're fundamentally on your own here.

MIDI is how to use it, HUI mode as a controller. That “To PC” port is for firmware upgrades and maybe, just maybe to old Panasonic software for the DA7 that gave more storage for automation. I had it on an old OS9 PowerMac, but that was ions ago.

PS. Still got the DA7 and it still works & sounds good.

The HUI capability was added in firmware version 2.0 or 2.01 I believe.

Version 2.01 Here
