Choose the 11R, then the TUTORIALS tab. Watch all the vid's and you should have a better understanding of how Pro Tools works.

What do you mean, Are you referring to latency?

If you are then tone has nothing to do with it.

If you wish to hear the 11r WITHOUT arming/record-ready any tracks, then:

Insert->New Track->Stereo Aux

and have the input set to 11R STEREO L/R. (or something along the lines of 11r in, I can't remember the wording exactly right at this moment). If you are going to record then mute this monitor track.
