Talking Guitar Link - Unboxing and Demo - Including Pro Tools 9 Test

So a few days ago I was trolling eBay, looking for various items, and I figured I would search for a guitar interface to see what they were selling for these days.

I've been looking for a small guitar interface to use with my laptop while im just relaxing and watching internet TV, and I didnt want to spend $75 - $150 for something that includes software I already have, and/or dont need.

So a little black interface popped up, no brand name, with a crazy low price of $13.54 with free shipping and it said it included ASIO drivers, which would mean it is PT9 compatible!

I thought there is no way a $13 interface it going to work with PT9.... and probably wont work at all....... Well, I purchased one to test out, and the results are in the following video:

Looks pretty cool.

Is anyone finding it ironic that perhaps some one is ripping off Behringer.

Is it Core Audio compliant for us poor souls that are saddled with Macbooks?

I take it that its limited to 16 bit?

Ha, thats exactly what I was thinking. I think the Behringer Guitar Link sells from $33 to $65, then someone in China rips off the design, piggybacks on their drivers, and sells them for under $15

You know, Im not really sure. I literally got it yesterday, and instantly fumbled through the settings with the camera rolling. I havent really gotten to see if there are any deeper setting/options available.

I imagine its features will be the same as the Behringer, and behringer says it works with a Mac, you can check the details here

This is the seller i bought from on eBay

http://cgi.ebay.com/Black-Guitar-USB...-/380340815442

but there are several sellers with the same item for the same price.

Just hop on to eBay and type in" Guitar Interface " you will get lots of hits back.

Curious. Did it come with the NI Guitar Combos like the Behringer interface? That was my first amp emulation plug and they sounded great.

yep, but i didnt even mess with them, i already had Guitar Rig 4.

Its basically just a rip off of the Behringer apparently, or maybe they are made for another brand label that sells in other countries.

Spec sheet says 16 bit only - which may explain why they are so noisy. Its also possible Behringer is wholesaling some unit's that didn't meet spec for signal to noise. Still for 13 bux whats not to like. Since Behringer is all about vertical manufacturing I'm going to guess these are made by them and that they are not buying them from another manufacturer. Its tough to beat Behringer at thier own game.

Heck the NI combos are worth 13.00 if you don't have or need anything more elaborate.

Yeah 16 bit was the only choice when running PT with it. But i'll have to check if 24 bit is available for standalone. The description on the eBay auction said 24 bit, but since they are a wholesaler, they probably just post the description and pictures provided, so it may be wrong.

I've been busy and havent had to chance to use it since the video was filmed.

The Behringer site also said ASIO4ALL is a compatible driver. So I may try ASIO4ALL with the Guitar Link. I've used ASIO4ALL for PT9 to play through the laptop speakers.

The Behringer spec sheet said 16 bit. I suppose that ASIO4ALL may open up some options that aren't in the windows driver's but wouldnt hold my breath
