PT 11 64bit DSP and Native

I am looking to upgrade my TDM system to HDX AAX PT 11, 64 bit. With this setup will I be able to use 64 bit DSP plugins and 64 bit Native plugins simultaneously. Previously I was able to use TDM and RTAS simultaneously. I am sort of under the impression that with PT 11 you have to be totally HDX DSP or Native with respect to plugins!!!!!!!

No. It's the same concept as PT10. You use a combination of Native and DSP plugins as needed. Make sure your core plugs are AAX DSP first though.

And be aware that some companies who previously made TDM plugins, will not be making DSP versions for HDX. Waves is the most prominent example.

They will be making AAX Native, which you can still use just fine with HDX, but no DSP versions to take advantage of the card's processing like they do now with TDM.

Something else worth noting is that you use half as many voices mixing AAX DSP /AAX Native as you did mixing up RTAS/TDM.

Also a 64bit AAX DSP/ Native sounds identical as they ARE the same algo , whereas my Sonnox RTAS 32bit was not the same as my TDM 48bit fixed point.

I find it much easier to mix and match in this truly hybrid system.

Yep, I know. Sonnox TDM/RTAS always sounded a touch different.

But now that AAX-native and AAX-DSP sound identical there is IMO no point in not letting AAX-native use the GML option. Makes me mad as I've paid for it in TDM time, but cannot use it with my HDN.
