Default Recording with real head-no cab?

can you connect a tube head and use the 11 racks effects, cabs and audio interface into a daw for silent recording?

You need a load box between amp head and Eleven rack. There's a nice article at Premier Guitar website

"
You must always have a load of some sort connected to your speaker-out jack, or you can severely damage the amp. This is where load boxes come in: They safely load your guitar amp and allow you to use it in numerous ways with no speakers. Examples of load boxes include the Suhr Reactive Load, Koch Dummybox Studio/PA, and the Two Notes Torpedo Live."

Some heads have a 'direct out' in which case you can just plug that into the 11R and use the Amp/Cab as normal with a feed to 11R/DAW.

Or you could use the Amp head FX loop send to 11R FX loop return. Bare in mind FX loops on most heads are post Pre-Amp/Pre Power Amp which may have an effect on whether or not to use simulated amps in 11R.
You would need to position the FX loop block in the 11R at beginning of chain to send 11R FX to DAW.

As stated above though, for 'silent recording' you need a dummy load on the amp if you disconnect cab. Do not plug this output (to Cab) to the 11R under any circumstances.

Yeah I also have a direct out on my Marshall but keep in mind that it doesn't sound the same, like at all.

Just use the 11rack - it's good enough by itself
