Ok, I just opened dark mode. I wondered why Avid never developed the visual interface for Pro Tools. Now I understand ! How awful. Please don't touch anything!

(We had to go in nuances, with subdued lighting effects, darker parts, but not to go into a cave with a bulldozer! How to spoil the most beautiful interface among DAWs ?: exactly like that!)

Using the Apple ColorSynch Utility's Calculator with RGB & Perceptual selected in the top line and Adobe RGB (1998) selected in the next line down then selecting 16 bit in the selector underneath the three sliders by tweaking the sliders I can come up with whatever color I seemingly want in the color box next to the little magnifying glass.

By changing the entries in a specific line I want to change in the dark mode file I can have it set to the color I worked up in the OSX utility. For example I used the numbers of 46147, 15278, 12850 in the cMacwindow title bar floater line to give me a salmon pink title bar color in floating windows for effects and instruments. And in the cMacwindow title bar I used these numbers 12566, 32609, 11883 to give the mix and edit window title bars a greenish color. These are just colors I picked while testing things.

From what I've been able to figure out using three identical numbers gives you that grayish color in the stock dark mode text file. As always make a copy of the file before messing around with it. I haven't really looked to see if there's an online 16 bit RGB color calculator/converter but there should be.
Although I don't endorse hacking anything in PT, this may help.

My best guess to this is that they are RGBA values; with the fourth (A)lpha adjusting the transparency/opacity of the color.
65535 is the max value of certain data types in C, so I would guess they are just converting to an RGB range (0 to 255). You can get the RGB value by just taking the number from the file and dividing by 256. So 65535 / 256 = 255, which is the max RGB value.

can you post the numbers you used when you have time?

I used your old salmon numbers and its now just white/grey:

cMacWindowTitleBar (46147,15278,12850)
cMacWindowTitleBarFloater (12566, 32609,11883)

does it need another value?

also I didnt save the old original values.... thought I did. but nope. I want your tweaks anyways.

thanks!

Each entry has to have four values, not three. You are missing the last one, which is the Alpha value. You can just put 65535 as the last on all of them to make them opaque.

cMacWindowTitleBar (46147,15278,12850, 65535)
cMacWindowTitleBarFloater (12566, 32609,11883, 65535)

cMacWindowTitleBar (46147,15278,12850, 65535)
cMacWindowTitleBarFloater (12566, 32609,11883, 65535)
The colors in the screenshot I posted are changed from my second workup. They are now:
cMacWindowTitleBar 12566,32609,11883,65535
cMacWindowTitleBarFloater 7125,15297,53000,65535

The colors you posted are my original color numbers; sorry I don't have a screenshot for that. If someone has a way to host the screengrab so it can be better seen than using the paperclip on a forum post let me know and I'll email you the grab so it can be seen better to get the full breadth of what I did.

I can see your new screen grab with green and blue fine. Thats why I wanted to change from the stock grey colors. Thanks!

Glad it's working for you. It's just a shame I could only put up a small version of the screengrab. If you call up the OSX ColorSync utility and set it for 16 bit in the bottom left chooser you can experiment with the sliders to get different colors. That's how I came up with mine.

Just use one of the many free image hosting sites and paste the URL.

I use https://imgbb.com but there’s loads to choose from.
