Default What's with all the sudden need for the latest?

I seriously dont get it.

A new os is released and a bunch of people jump on it and complain things don't work.
The latest pro tools comes out And it's the same thing.

I wonder most the time if all these people are just screwing around on their laptop while they watch netflix.

Is there no interest in function stability and reliability?

Well I guess those of us who do make a living with it need these people to test it.
So thanks

Good Point!

there is a Lot of speculations here and I am amazed people have time instead of actually making music on their "working" PT10/HD but I can't really say I am not as exited as everyone else. Have been waiting for a better way to utilize the RAM when using - Nexus2 - NI Kontakt5 - Synthmaster2 - Komplete Ultimate - Slate Platinum - BFD2 and many more so hopefully we are going PT11HD this month :)

Its always smart to test the water before jumping in with both feet. There's nothing long with trying new stuff as long as you have a viable backup plan. Its also very nice when your several versions back on a previous OS that's stable and no longer getting updated.

If I knew that, I would be making millions with marketing :)

Seriously though, when PT10 came out I knew that I must get it because of the Disk Cache feature. That is the best thing since OSX compatibility. From my point of view at least. So that feature alone made me suddenly feel the need for the latest. What's next? Don't know.

Hello
<humor>
I for one am happy that a bunch of folks jump on the new versions quickly. We make money with our Nuendo and PT systems and there are ALWAYS bugs on first releases, sometimes huge ones. PT 9 with other hardware? Had to have that. PT10 with disk cache and (finally) clip gain? Couldn't live without it (figuratively speaking). DotZero release? Not a chance.
So thank you for abusing yourselves on the sacrificial altar of the bleeding edge. We salute you.
Just tone down the whining a little. </humor>

...Uhmmmmmm...in this case it would be because I've been waiting for years for this update. I normally wait but I'm jumping in. It would be different if you couldn't have both 10 and 11 installed but since you can why not.
