Re: Which motherboard/processor for pci cards?
What do you guys think of this one?
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...168&CatId=5195 Intel H55HC Motherboard. 3 PCI slots, and it doesn't look like there is anything that would obstruct the cards. |

Re: Which motherboard/processor for pci cards?
Yea maybe so on that one, make sure that SATA plug is not going to be in the way of the card tail.

Re: Which motherboard/processor for pci cards?
Thanks for that link. I am going to CompUSA tomorrow to check out the Intel motherboard, and we'll see if it works with the cards. They also have the one you are using, the ASUS P7P55D PRO, so I have that option too.

Re: Which motherboard/processor for pci cards?
OK. Went with the Intel DH55HC motherboard, 3 PCI slots. Works fine with Windows 7 and an i7. Cheers!

Re: Which motherboard/processor for pci cards?
I have installed pthd 2 on a mobo Intel P7P55DLE with Intel i7: be careful to use only the LE mobo of the P7P55D family !!! The other mobos have a thik stellar heatsink of the P55 chipset so is impossible to' insert the Pci card in the slots.

Re: Which motherboard/processor for pci cards?
i also had success with P7P55DLE and hd1. however, the core card refused to play if i had my firewire / usb combo card plugged in to the pci bus. not really a problem, but it did freak me out for an hour or so.

Re: Which motherboard/processor for pci cards?
Just did a build with an HD2 on a Gigabyte GA-P55-UL3R, but it wasn't my first choice...
I was hoping to find a GA-P55-UL3D which has 4 32-bit PCI slots together, but NOBODY up here has stock on this board. Was there some big recall or something? I was hoping there would be some feedback on this board... I'm really hoping to find a board that will do at least 4 PCI slots and still run an i7 CPU. BTW, Is it sacrilege to take a dremel tool to the seemingly unnecessary extra bit on the Digi cards that go beyond a 32bit slot? Even if I'm careful, and the card continues to work for another 3 or 4 years, will I be SOL when it comes time to trade in the mangled card? Cheers for now, eh? |
