Default 003 Factory + 8 Chan pre = 16 ins?

Hello
Really quick question and probably simple for you guys. Apologies if this has been answered a few times already, but my searches here didn't get me back the answer I was looking for.

OK here goes:

I have a 003 Factory. (std 4 mic pre's (1-4) and 4 in's (5-8) + lightpipe conn in back)

If I have a Focusrite ASA 828 (with Light pipe) not connected yet, and 4 UA 610's already in 5-8. If I connect the 828 in the lightpipe, I get 16 inputs to the 003, right? The ASA 828 lightpipe ADDS to the inputs and doesn't REPLACE the inputs 5-8, (I hope). Right? Somebody told me they are replaced, and I don't think so.

Thanks!

-3db,

YOU are correct. Outputting via ADAT from your ISA 828 to the Digi will add 8 more inputs (they would be 9 - 16).

As a preemptive comment, you can also ADD 2 more inputs via the SPDIF input (17 - 18).

Hope this helps,
Greg

Only restriction is you can only record at 44.1 or 48khz thru the lightpipe, but that's no biggie.
