Check to make sure you do not have Internet Explorer 8 installed.

Nope, have explorer 7

Addtl Info:
OS - Windows XP pro 32bit, SP 2
Verson - PTMP 8
MSI Motherboard w invidia 775 socket, Nvidia Video card...standard cheapy.
Processor - Intel Core 2 Quad Q-9400

The freeze always occurs during the plug-in loading phase of start up and when i remove all plug-ins from the DAE folder, then it just doesn't load at all!

Usually it gets stuck on some of the newer virtual instruments but when i remove those, it just freezes on some other plug in.

The really annoying thing is 7.4 opened for me but i got all used to 8.0! Also, it was working before and i just left town for 2 months and no one touched the computer!

Tech people: PLEASE help me with this! I cannot use my audio software and my music is my LIFE!

Would you please use the Tech Support Utility from the Tech Support Folder, generate a version list and post it here?

Thanks.

Ah spkgtr - we have a long history of you saving my a*% in the past. While i totally understand if you are unable to help me with this issue, it is really nice to see not only some response, but some from someone who knows quite a lot!

I downloaded the tech support utility but when i run the program and press '6' to 'generate a version list' it says 'Working Please Wait' for about a milisecond and the screen looks like it refreshes and its as if i pressed nothing...no response.

More info on the problem:
I think it has something to do with the virtual instruments collection, because it freezes on 'Structure', and if i remove that from the folder, it freezes on 'X-Pand' and so on...i've tried getting rid of all of them, but as i've said before: it will just freeze on some other arbitrary plug in, from different companies and that are not virtual instruments.

I've also now tried removing everything: uninstalling and going through folders to manually delete. Then i defragged my hard drive, then i reinstalled and same problem. Checked my hardware version for my project mix, newest one. Worked fine before.

The mistery goes on...

Try downloading the latest pace ilok drivers. http://www.paceap.com/dldrvr.html

This solved many unexplainable and unsolveable things (until i installed the new pace drivers)

If that doesn't work; i'd try a complete un-install; get rid of all things digidesign (except your new pace drivers); then re-install.

Check your desktop; there should be a new file there.

Lately, this has been linked to having IE8 installed. If you are positive that you do not have IE8 (you should definitely double check), then you should try as stated above; update PACE drivers.

RE IE8 - I checked the version in the 'properties' dialog and it says 7. I did download windows silverlight, but i did that about a week ago, and this problem started more than 3 weeks ago.

Re the utility: i deleted it after i thought it ddnt work so i'll have to do it again...whoops!

Thanks always for all your assistance!
