Default New development CPU at 100%

Just started happening on my alienware setup. doing some experiments on the input level confusion that I posted about here. Im try to move the fader in PT 8 mixer and its stuck. will not move. I only have one track inserted and no plugins. I checked the system usage in PT and it shows virtually nothing.
I went to xp task magager performance. the CPU is showing 100%
In processes system idle processes is showing zero.
What in the hell?
Everything is shutdown not even screen saver. anyone got any insight.
Maybe I jumped the gun on this one. Maybe its the AVG antivirus that I shut down before I started the experiment. I will restart and try again.

Greg
