Default merging midi two midi parts into one ???

- being a Logic user (as well) I find it useful sometimes to be able to split midi into two parts and then later merge them together...how do I merge two different midi tracks into one ???

thanks

  • Triple click on MIDI track
  • Copy
  • go to destination MIDI track and position editing cursor
  • Paste (or Paste Special)
It will merge MIDI events from 2 tracks.

Note: To merge 2 regions: Edit > Consolidate.

Ok! Select notes from first region on some track, copy, paste notes over other region on other track.
(i have 2nd monitor and windows configurations preset with "Edit" window opened on first monitor and "MIDI editor" window opened on second monitor. So it minimize mouse clicks)

Unless I'm seriously misunderstanding your question alt-m is what you're after. Select one track, hit apple-a to select all the midi data, then either cut or copy everything. Then place your insertion cursor at the same place on the destination track and hit alt-m to merge the 2 tracks.

Ignore my post I am an idiot. In fact I will now delete it. I never knew you could do that

Is alt m a shortcut for this suicine

You can also paste and merge MIDI notes
using Paste Special commands. See “Special
Paste Function for Automation Data

RTFM I always thought it wasn't there because it is made quite obvious in DP. DUC educates again.

Mind you I should point out that PT doesn't preserve channel information on a per-event basis the way Logic does - so if you are attempting to merge 2 tracks routed to different channels on a multi-timbral instrument I'm afraid you can't do this in PT the way you can in logic.

Yes Alt-m is the midi merge shortcut.

Don't worry about it, that's what we're here for!

just found this when searching for how to flatten a bunch of separate midi tracks. this works fine, tho it's too bad you can't do it in a single step.
