Default Pro Tools 001 factory help!!!!

Hey everybody,
I have a major problem and the folks at digi told me to try the forum. In moving from house to house my girlfriend has lost my hardware key. I was on the road and couldnt pack my stuff so she did it all and somewhere lost my key. I called digi and they said it would be 1700.00 to replace it and I only paid 1350.00 for my whole factory bundle. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how I might salvage my rig without the key. The people at digi told me about text codes that could be used to use the plugins I have but I have no idea. Also if anyone is willing to get rid of a key for the factory bundle ( I know this is unlikely but I have to try). I am a novice with recording but want to dive head first into it now that I am off the road. I just cant grasp the concept of there being nothing that I can do to use my system without the key. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jason

I assume you are talking about the I lok. If you are registered as a user with DIGI I am surprised that they aren't helping you... They must realize they get lost/damaged etc...

Other than begging digi I'm not sure what else you can do.

Good luck,

Mat

Hi there,

1st post, I see...Assuming you have purchased your package from a dealership, you must have a receipt. I'd take it from there. And I'm guessing you still can use the interface and PT LE without the iLock key .
Sorry...

If I understand you correctly, and it is indeed an broken or lost ilok issue, just buy a new one (about $30 or $40) go to ilok.com (where your authorizations should be stored and registered) and have ilok move the authorizations to the new key. I didn't see where you live, but if there is a Guitar Center nearby you can walk in off of the street and buy a new one. You should be up and rerunning with a minimum of delay. Call it a moving expense. I keep a spare ilok key for just that possibility.
Good Luck,
David

Won't work like that.

It is very much possible that he got the digi001 before ilok.com was ever created. And i highly doubt it wether you can store authorizations on 2 ilok's. The whole point of a key like that is to be able to move around systems with only one license. Allowing people to load 2 licenses undermines that principle. It is not that his ilok is damaged or broken. He lost it.....

My best bet is trying to persuade the shop where you bought it, and be sure to bring along your original receipt.

Good tip for those who have not yet lost theirs: consider insuring your little gem. I believe Rail suggested this not too long ago, and it sounds pretty good now.

Bastiaan, of course you are correct. You do need both iloks to move authorizations around. What was I thinking?

Well I appreciate your words guys. I bought my system three years ago and have never even been able to record a complete song because of my work on the road. As far as the Ilok goes, yes I can buy a new key but with no authorizations. I have a question for ya'll, will the standard plug ins and pro tools itself work without the key? I am on mast last road trip and when i get home I am going to hook everything up. Does anyone know about the text codes that digi spoke about?

Yes the DIGIRACK Plugins will work without an Ilok.As will the PT's software itself.Only those plugins that require the Ilok will not function.

From the iLok FAQ page:

Quote:
How do I authorize my iLok-enabled software if I don't have an iLok?
If the product you are trying to authorize is iLok-enabled, the developer may support other authorization methods, such as software product activation. Contact the software publisher for details.
If they were Digi plugs (Maxim, D-Fi, etc) I know for a fact that they will provide activations for you with proof of ownership.
I'm not sure what software was included with the 001 Factory bundle, but I would check with those software developers for authorization codes.

You will not find the "text codes digi spoke about" here, and I find it highly unlikely that they actually directed you to look here for them, as it would be illegal for any of us to provide them for you.
