Perhaps so... But just because a mother thinks her child is the most beautiful person on the planet, doesn't necessarily make it so

Interesting points to consider, IMO:
Melodyne is not actually "fully directly embedded" into the DAW. Rather, it is a *better* implementation of a plug-in version (+ Bridge?).

What I stated above may appear to be short-changing what is going on... so...

Think of this tech as being somewhere between plug-in and "completely assimilated." For each of us, this experience may vary, due to several factors. The first is another point...

The DAWquencer devs must decide how to "include" some version of Melodyne. As an example, one must own S1 v2 Professional to have a "no extra cost" version of Melodyne, and in that case, it is Melodyne Essential that is included. If one desires/requires more Melodyne features, they must upgrade Melodyne (for instance, to Editor). Yes, Melodyne is still a separately installed app. And yes, Melodyne Essential may well be "just enough" for many users' needs. I just feel this information should be presented up front in full so as to allow potential users a chance to consider potential costs.

That said, this is indeed a very cool advancement, and it would be cool to have with PT. I would like to see what Avid devs could come up with for a fully integrated option; IOW, extend the existing Elastic Audio capabilities to *equal* or better what this tech would provide.

Also interested to see if Melodyne is capable of "reading" *odd* time signatures from host apps.

Have you tried version 2 yet?

I started a duplicate post on this (accidentally) in the Pro Tools 10 Forums.
