Default Pro Tools 9.0.5 unable to install w OS 10.7.5

I upgraded to Lion finally and tried installing 9.0.5 and somehow it deleted pro tools and subsequently will not install this software version.

I have a MacPro (likely 2006 model) w enough HD space and RAM. 96 i/o interface and running PT HD. I'd be fine to update my OS to Yosemite except that I do not wish to purchase new PT hardware and it seems that my 96 i/o is now a legacy item.

Can anyone help me with this install issue or even tell me a more ideal OS/Software/Hardware scenario that avoids this issue so long as it doesn't involve me needing to buy a new i/o interface?
